What changed

Base-year AFNI change$15,000
Annual CCB change$1,629
2026-27 maximum before reduction$15,040
2026-27 income-tested reduction$5,638
CRA resets the benefit year every July. A higher maximum does not guarantee a higher payment: a rise in family income, a child turning six, or a child turning eighteen can reduce it.

Frequently asked questions

Why does CCB change every July?

July begins a new CCB benefit year. CRA replaces the older base-year tax return with the most recently completed tax year and applies newly indexed maximum amounts and income thresholds.

Which income year controls the July 2026 CCB payment?

Payments from July 2026 through June 2027 use adjusted family net income from the 2025 tax return. Payments from July 2025 through June 2026 used 2024 income.

Can my payment fall even when CCB maximums rise?

Yes. A higher adjusted family net income, a child turning six, or a child turning eighteen can outweigh the annual indexation increase.
