The 2025 column is included so you can see how far each month's date has shifted — the calendar is rebuilt every year around weekends and statutory holidays rather than fixed to a set day.

Which benefits use this calendar

One Service Canada payment run covers the whole Canada Pension Plan. If you collect more than one of these, they arrive as a single deposit:

  • CPP retirement pension
  • CPP disability benefit (CPP-D)
  • CPP children's benefit
  • CPP survivor’s pension and death benefit
  • CPP post-retirement benefit (PRB)

Quebec residents are the exception: the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) replaces CPP in Quebec and is paid by Retraite Québec on its own schedule.

How much CPP arrives on those dates

Maximum at age 65 (2026)

$1,507.65/month

$18,092 a year, and only for someone who contributed the maximum for close to a full career.

Average at age 65 (April 2026)

$877.01/month

What people actually receive — roughly 58% of the maximum.

Your own amount also depends on when you start. Taking CPP at 60 permanently reduces it by 36.0%; waiting until 70 raises it by 42.0%. Our CPP & OAS start-age calculator compares those paths on your numbers, and the 2026 CPP & EI maximums page covers the contribution side.

CPP and OAS land on the same day in 2026

Service Canada administers both programs and issues them together, so every date on this page is also an Old Age Security date. That is why a pensioner receiving both often sees one lump deposit rather than two. The programs are otherwise unrelated: CPP is earned through contributions, while OAS is based on residency and is clawed back at higher incomes. See OAS payment dates 2026 for the OAS amounts, the recovery-tax threshold, and GIS.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next CPP payment in 2026?

Service Canada issues 12 CPP payments in 2026: Jan 28, Feb 25, Mar 27, Apr 28, May 27, Jun 26, Jul 29, Aug 27, Sep 25, Oct 28, Nov 26, Dec 22. Payments are dated on the day shown — direct deposit normally lands the same day, while a mailed cheque takes longer.

What day of the month does CPP get paid?

There is no fixed calendar day. CPP lands near the end of each month, but the exact date moves with weekends and holidays — in 2026 it ranges from Sep 25 in September to Apr 28 in April. The December payment is deliberately earlier (December 22, 2026) so it clears before the holidays.

Do CPP disability and survivor benefits use the same dates?

Yes. The single Service Canada calendar covers CPP retirement pension, CPP disability benefit (CPP-D), CPP children's benefit, CPP survivor’s pension and death benefit, CPP post-retirement benefit (PRB). If you receive more than one CPP benefit they arrive together as one deposit, which is why the amount may not match any single benefit statement.

Is CPP paid on the same day as OAS?

Yes — for 2026 every CPP date is also an Old Age Security date, because Service Canada runs both programs off one payment run. If you receive both, expect one combined deposit. The amounts and the income rules are completely different, though: see our OAS payment dates page.

How much is CPP per month in 2026?

The maximum CPP retirement pension at age 65 is $1,507.65 a month ($18,092 a year) in 2026, but the average new recipient at 65 gets $877.01 a month (April 2026 figure). The maximum requires close to 40 years of maximum contributions, so most people receive well under it.

When does my first CPP payment arrive after I apply?

Your first payment follows the month you chose as your start date, on that month's scheduled date. Service Canada asks for your application well ahead of the month you want payments to begin; if the application is still being processed when your start month arrives, the first deposit includes the retroactive amount owed.

Is tax taken off my CPP payment?

Not automatically. CPP is taxable income but Service Canada does not withhold tax unless you request it, so people with other income often owe at filing time. You can ask for voluntary tax withholding through My Service Canada Account or by contacting Service Canada.

My CPP payment did not arrive — what should I do?

Wait 5 to 10 business days after the scheduled date before contacting Service Canada; posted cheques routinely take that long. If it still has not arrived, confirm your direct deposit and address are current in My Service Canada Account first — a stale address is the most common cause.
