What this estimate includes

The income bands apply to established CDCP fees: below $70,000 the plan pays 100%; from $70,000 to $79,999 it pays 60%; from $80,000 to $89,999 it pays 40%.

Existing dental coverage through a provincial, territorial or federal social program does not necessarily prevent CDCP eligibility because benefits may be coordinated. Private insurance access is a separate rule.

Questions this calculator answers

What income qualifies for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Adjusted family net income must be less than $90,000. It also determines whether the CDCP pays 100%, 60% or 40% of established CDCP fees.

Can I qualify if I opted out of workplace dental insurance?

Generally no. Access to private dental coverage can make you ineligible even if you opt out, subject to a narrow pre-December 11, 2023 retirement exception.

Does 100% coverage mean every dentist bill is free?

No. It means 100% of eligible services at established CDCP fees. A provider may charge above those fees, and non-covered services remain payable.
