Ontario Works Payment Dates 2026
Ontario Works sends each month's income support a few days early, on the last business day of the month before. The table pairs every benefit month with its deposit and with the CRA payments you may also be waiting on.

Which month is this money for?
The most common mix-up: the deposit dated in one month pays the next. Budget the November 30, 2026 payment as December money, and expect January 2027 support at the end of December, on a date Ontario will publish with the 2027 schedule. ODSP uses the same deposit days but ontario.ca lists them under the month they land in, so the two tables look one month apart even though the money arrives together; compare with the ODSP 2026 calendar.
The basic rate
Ontario says a single person could receive up to $733 a month for basic needs and shelter. That ceiling has no automatic inflation adjustment, so the CRA credits matter more than they look: filing a return is what switches on the CGEB, the Ontario Trillium Benefit and, if you work, the Canada Workers Benefit.

What are the Ontario Works payment dates for 2026?
Ontario Works pays on the last business day of the month before each benefit month. Support for January 2026 arrived on December 31, 2025; the remaining 2026 deposits are Jan 30, Feb 27, Mar 31, Apr 30, May 29, Jun 30, Jul 31, Aug 31, Sep 29, Oct 30, Nov 30, the last of them covering December.
Why does the deposit come at the end of the month?
So the money is in your account on the first, when rent is due. The payment you receive at the end of October is your November support.
How much does Ontario Works pay a single person?
Up to $733 a month for basic needs and shelter. Families get more, and some extra benefits are paid on top, but the core rate is not indexed to inflation the way ODSP is.
Do federal benefits count against Ontario Works?
The Canada Disability Benefit does not: Ontario exempts it, so it leaves your eligibility and payment untouched. Tax credits such as the CGEB, the Ontario Trillium Benefit and the Canada Child Benefit are paid separately by the CRA on their own dates.
Do I need to file a tax return while on Ontario Works?
Yes, if you want the CRA benefits. The CGEB, the Ontario Trillium Benefit, the CCB and the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (paid Jan 12, Jul 10, Oct 9 in 2026) are all worked out from your return, and none is paid without one.
