BC Income Assistance Payment Dates 2026
British Columbia pays income assistance and disability assistance once a month, a week or more before the month the money is for. These are the 2026 issue dates published by the province.

The early December issue
The December 16, 2026 payment is the one that catches people out. It arrives well before Christmas but is meant to last through January, and the next issue after it will not come until the province's 2027 schedule says so. Lead times across 2026 run from 3 to 16 days ahead of the benefit month.
CRA benefits for people on assistance in B.C.
Filing a tax return is free money here: the province says tax benefits do not affect your assistance. Filing starts the quarterly Groceries and Essentials Benefit, the Canada Child Benefit for parents, and, with an approved disability tax credit, the Canada Disability Benefit.

The 2026 payment dates are Jan 21, Feb 25, Mar 25, Apr 22, May 27, Jun 24, Jul 29, Aug 26, Sep 23, Oct 21, Nov 18, Dec 16. Each is the cheque issue for the following month, so the December 16, 2026 payment is January 2027 assistance.
Is disability assistance (PWD) paid on the same day?
Yes. B.C. issues income assistance and disability assistance together, on one monthly payment date.
Why does BC pay so early in the month before?
The province issues assistance about 3 to 16 days before the month it covers, always on a Wednesday, which gives cheques time to arrive and lets direct deposit clear before rent is due.
How do I get my payment faster?
Sign up for direct deposit through My Self Serve or your local office. Cheque recipients have to wait for mail or pickup after the issue date.
Does filing taxes affect my assistance?
B.C. says receiving tax benefits does not affect your assistance, and filing is how you get the CGEB, the CCB and the federal Canada Disability Benefit.
