Your Canada Child Benefit for July 2026 – June 2027, worked out from a 2025 adjusted family net income
(AFNI) of $40,000: the monthly deposit, the yearly total and how the CRA's reduction gets there.
All 2 under 6
$1,339.67 /month
$16,075.99 a year
All 2 aged 6 to 17
$1,127.33 /month
$13,527.99 a year
$40,000 is only $1,763 over the $38,237 point where the CCB starts to shrink, so the cut is small. Try your own ages and income in the
CCB calculator, which opens with this family filled in.
$40,000 with 2 children, by age
The maximum is set per child by age; the reduction is set by family size and income only, so it is the same
$238.01 on every row.
Maximums for July 2026 – June 2027: $8,157 a year per child under 6, $6,883 per child aged 6 to 17.
Each child under 6 adds $1,274 a year over a child aged 6 to 17, so the all-under-6 row is $2,548.00 a year above the all-6-to-17 row.
The reduction, step by step
With 2 children the CRA uses the 13.5% rate between $38,237 and $82,847,
and 5.7% above $82,847.
Income in the first band: $40,000 − $38,237 = $1,763.
First-band reduction: $1,763 × 13.5% = $238.01.
Nothing in the second band: $40,000 is below $82,847, $42,847 short of it.
Total reduction: $238.01 a year,
taken off the maximum: $16,314.00 − $238.01 = $16,075.99 with every child under 6, or $13,766.00 − $238.01 = $13,527.99 with every child 6 to 17.
Monthly payment: the yearly amount divided by 12.
Every extra $1,000 of AFNI up to $82,847 costs $135.00 a year with 2 children.
How long this amount lasts
Fixed until June 2027: the CRA sets the payment each July from the
previous year's return. July 2026 – June 2027 uses your 2025 income, so a raise in 2026 does not
change it. Your 2026 return sets the payments from July 2027, with new indexed maximums and
thresholds that are only published shortly before then.
Both partners must file: AFNI is your net income plus your spouse's or
common-law partner's. If either return is missing, the payments stop until it is assessed.
Child Disability Benefit: a child approved for the disability tax credit
also gets up to $3,480 a year on top of the CCB, reduced only above $82,847. See the
amount for your family in the CCB calculator with one eligible child,
or check eligibility with the disability tax credit calculator.
Shared custody: each parent gets half of what they would get as the only
caregiver, on their own household's income. Use the shared custody calculator.
When the payments arrive
The CCB is deposited monthly. The 2026 dates in this benefit year are Jul 20, Aug 20, Sep 18, Oct 20, Nov 20, Dec 11; the 2027 dates are on the calendar once canada.ca publishes them. Each deposit here is $1,339.67 with all children under 6
or $1,127.33 with all children 6 to 17. Full schedule:
CCB payment dates 2026.
$40,000 with other family sizes
Monthly CCB, all children under 6 and all aged 6 to 17.
Moving up to $60,000 would cost another $2,700.00.
Frequently asked questions
How much CCB will I get with $40,000 family income and 2 children?
Between $1,127.33 and $1,339.67 a month for July 2026 – June 2027: $1,339.67 if both are under 6, $1,127.33 if both are 6 to 17, and $1,233.50 with one child under 6. The CRA works it out from your 2025 adjusted family net income of $40,000.
How much CCB do I lose for each extra $1,000 of family income?
At $40,000 with 2 children, the next $1,000 of adjusted family net income takes $135.00 off your yearly CCB (13.5%). It works the other way too: an RRSP deduction of $1,000 lowers your net income and adds about $135.00 back to the following benefit year, on top of the tax it saves. Above $82,847 the rate drops to 5.7%.
At what family income does the CCB stop for 2 children?
Around $263,403 of adjusted family net income if both are under 6, and around $218,701 if both are 6 to 17. At $40,000 you are well below that, so you keep most of the maximum.
Why is the reduction bigger with 2 children than with 1?
The first-phase rate rises with family size: 7% for 1 child, 13.5% for 2. At $40,000 that makes the reduction $238.01 instead of $123.41, but the extra maximum more than covers it: 2 children aged 6 to 17 get $13,527.99 a year against $6,759.59 for 1.
When will this CCB amount change?
These payments run from July 2026 to June 2027. In July 2027 the CRA recalculates them from your 2026 return, with maximums and thresholds indexed to inflation that it has not published yet. A new child, a child turning 6 or 18, or a change in marital status changes the amount sooner.
