Estimate your CDB payments — up to $200/month for working-age Canadians with DTC

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Canada Disability Benefit?

The maximum Canada Disability Benefit is $200 per month$2,400 a year — for the July 2025 to June 2026 benefit period. That is the full amount before any income-based reduction; higher income lowers it on a sliding scale.

Who qualifies for the Canada Disability Benefit?

The CDB is for working-age adults aged 18 to 64 who hold a valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate. If you are under 18 or 65 or older, this benefit does not apply — other supports cover those age groups. The calculator marks you ineligible if your age falls outside the 18–64 range.

Do I need a Disability Tax Credit certificate?

Yes — a valid DTC certificate is mandatory. The Disability Tax Credit is approved by the Canada Revenue Agency, and without an approved DTC you cannot receive the CDB regardless of your age or income. If you do not yet have one, applying for and being approved for the DTC is the first step.

How does my income affect the amount?

Above an income threshold the benefit is reduced by 20 cents for every dollar of income over the limit. For a single person the threshold is $23,000; the calculator uses net income, so as income rises above that level your monthly payment tapers from the $200 maximum toward zero.

Do couples get a higher income threshold?

Yes. The calculator applies a higher income threshold for couples — 1.5 times the single threshold, about $34,500 — before the 20% reduction starts. Tick the couple option so the phase-out is measured against the higher figure rather than the single-person threshold.

Will the CDB reduce my provincial disability payments?

It can, depending on your province. In Alberta, the CDB is clawed back from AISH dollar-for-dollar, so your net gain may be reduced. In Ontario, ODSP rules may adjust for the CDB. Provincial interactions vary, so confirm how your province treats the benefit before counting on the full amount.
