Quebec lets the employer pick Good Friday or Easter Monday, so the Good Friday row stands for either day there. The Ontario, federal and Quebec sources publish the holidays and their rules, not 2026 dates; the dates shown are the British Columbia and Alberta published dates for the same holiday. The August long weekend and Easter Monday
The August long weekend is the first Monday in August: Monday, August 3, 2026. It is B.C. Day, a statutory holiday, in British Columbia. Alberta calls it Heritage Day and treats it as optional, and Ontario does not require it. Easter Monday is Monday, April 6, 2026; it is a statutory holiday in none of the five jurisdictions except where a Quebec employer picks it in place of Good Friday.
When a holiday falls on a weekend
In 2026, Christmas Day is a Friday and Boxing Day a Saturday. For federally regulated employees, a New Year's Day, Canada Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day or Boxing Day that falls on a Saturday or Sunday that is not a scheduled work day is replaced by a paid holiday on the scheduled work day immediately before or after it. Canada Day is a Wednesday and New Year's Day a Thursday this year, so neither moves. Pay for the day off, and the premium for working it, depend on the jurisdiction: use the Statutory Holiday Pay Calculator.
