Important Notes
Self-employed payment deadline: Even though self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners have until June 15, 2026 to file, any balance owing is still due by April 30, 2026. Interest will accrue on unpaid amounts after April 30 regardless of the extended filing deadline.
Installment payments: You are required to pay quarterly installments if your net tax owing exceeds $3,000 in the current year and in either of the two previous years (or $1,800 if you reside in Quebec). Installments are due on March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. The March 15 installment for 2026 falls before the listed dates above.
Quebec residents: If you live in Quebec, you must file a separate provincial return — the TP-1 — with Revenu Québec in addition to your federal T1 return with the CRA. The provincial filing deadline matches the federal deadline (April 30, or June 15 for self-employed).
